Raipur, Feb 19 (IANS) A woman Maoist was killed in a shootout between security forces and Maoists in deep forested area in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district, officials said on Wednesday.
The shootout began at 6.30 p.m. on Tuesday in Chintagupha forest in Sukma when troops of 206 CoBRA and District Reserve Group (DRG) of state police were conducting Cordon and Search Operations (CASO).
The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on Wednesday claimed to have recovered the body of the woman Maoists. "The operation is still on," said a CRPF official.
Similar shootout took place in Phalori forest in Kistaram area in Sukma at around 4.30 p.m. on Tuesday in which two commandos sustained bullet injuries. Some Maoists also got injured but managed to escape.
Two injured personnel were evacuated by helicopter to Raipur but CRPF Constable Kanai Majee succumbed to injuries during evacuation operation.
