Award winners were: contact sports Muhammad Ali, Soccer-Pele, athletics-Carl Lewis and Nadia Comaneci, water sport Dawn Fraser and Mark Spitz; motor sport Alain Prost, tennis-Steffi Graf, basketball-Michael Jordan, winter sports (skiing) Annemarie Moser-Proell and Jean-Claude Killy.
