Historical Event on 9/9/1812
The first paper currency was issued by the Bank of Bengal. The notes of this bank were later printed by Perkins, Heath & Co. in England. They can be distinguished into at least 10 different types. They were issued in a wide range of denominations from Rs. 10 to Rs. 1000.

5/23/1975	P. S. Bapat, victoria cross winner Lieutenant General, passed away.
3/24/1977	Morarji Desai elected leader of Janata Party and sworn in as the Prime Minister of India at New Delhi. Later he formed his cabinet. He was in the office of Prime Minister till July 28, 1979. This was first non-Congress Government in India.
9/10/1966	Parliament approved the Punjab Re-organisation Bill for the formation of Haryana and Punjab as two independent states.
12/1/1946	Australia compiled 645 vs India at Gabba. Bradman made 187 runs.
8/26/1984	An Indian Airlines Boeing with 68 passengers and a crew of six hijacked to Lahore. The 12 Sikh hijackers then surrendered to the authorities in the U.A.E and released all the passengers.
